MAKING MY WEDDING DRESS
A two month project in creating my own wedding dress(es) for the wedding I planned in the summer of 2024.
As an engineer with a passion for hands-on projects, I took on the challenge of designing and sewing my own wedding dress, merging creativity with technical precision. From sketching the initial concept to drafting a custom pattern, I applied my problem-solving skills to ensure a perfect fit. I carefully selected fabrics, considering both aesthetic qualities and structural needs, and meticulously crafted each detail, from the dress construction to the finishing touches.
Throughout the process, I used engineering principles like pattern scaling, geometry, and symmetry to ensure that the dress would not only be beautiful but also wearable and comfortable. I also embraced the iterative nature of design—making adjustments, testing, and refining as I went along, ensuring the final garment met my vision.
This experience strengthened my skills in attention to detail and creative problem solving, while also giving me a deep appreciation for the balance between artistry and engineering.
